Bad Outcomes

Divorce with a child or children typically goes one of two ways: hard & painful or excruciatingly hard & painful. In the following exercise, you will watch an interview describing the latter. There will be a quiz about the details described in the video. After, you will be asked to describe the worst future possible for you, your coparent and your child.

Despite the dearth of well-designed studies in social psychology, there is wide consensus, and even accepted truths, on at least a few points regarding children’s best interests:

  • flourishing parents = flourishing children
  • involvement from both parents creates stability for children
  • never-ending conflict is “bad”
  • mothers living in poverty is “bad”
